Interested in working for CAN English School?

As a CAN teacher you will work as an Assistant English Teacher (A.E.T.). Our
AETs work in public Junior High Schools and Elementary Schools on behalf of CAN for
the local Board of Education. As an AET you will work alongside Japanese English
Teachers and staff to assist them with their school’s English curriculum. This involves
team teaching, making worksheets, explaining grammar and interacting with students
in their daily school activities. Basically you become a part of the school’s English
department and strengthen its ability to teach English effectively.

AETs receive yearly contracts with the option to continue if interested/successful.

Most schools in this area require you to be at school from 8:00am to 5:00pm. This does
vary among some schools but usually it’s a nine-hour day, which includes an hour for lunch.

CAN teachers receive all Japanese public holidays and school holidays, therefore if the
kids are away you can play. The main school holidays include 2 weeks in March and 2
weeks over the New Years period.

CAN English School is based in Komoro City, Nagano. Komoro is about one
hour east of Nagano City by car between Ueda City and Saku City. Although a small
town, Komoro is very central and provides easy access to Nagano Prefecture’s famous
ski-fields and attractions. This area of Nagano is renowned for its hiking tracks, local
festivals and quiet rural settings. So if you’re sick of the hustle and bustle of the big
cities or just want some fresh air, give us a look. The nearest Shinkansen station is 15
minutes away in Saku City and connects to Tokyo and Nagano City (Asama Line).

  A University Degree (4 years),
this is required for Visa purposes. Teaching/Education degrees are preferred but all Majors/Minors are considered.

A Drivers License,
some of our contract schools will require driving. A Japanese Drivers License or International Drivers
License is recommended. Please note that to convert a ‘Full’ foreign drivers license to a
Japanese license you need to have resided in the country of its issue for three months
(after its issuing) prior to entering Japan.

Experience in teaching ESL.
CAN is interested in experienced and new teachers so if it’s your first time teaching don’t be afraid to apply.
We provide training and advise to help all our teachers in their work.

Japanese Language Ability,
as an AET you will be working in a Japanese public school so some ability to read, write and speak Japanese
can only help you. That being said it’s not a requirement and we accept all levels of Japanese language ability.

Work Visa,
a valid Japanese working visa. CAN is able to provide work visa sponsorship to successful applicants
